Change of plans. I planned on posting some information about our free clean eating group that is starting next week...but I think Ill post about it tomorrow morning. Instead, Id like to discuss my disappointment and borderline disgust regarding some comments that were posted after Beachbody posted (in a beachbody-wide PiYo group) before/after pictures of one of our amazing coaches. The caption discussed her weight loss and duration of the program. Id like to talk about WHY Im so upset. Unlike many men/women that begin their journey with Team Beachbody, I was never in search of a physical transformation. I didnt need to lose weight. I was happy when I looked at my body in the mirror. What drew me into this company was being surrounded by like-minded people that wanted me to succeed NO MATTER WHAT. I loved how people from different backgrounds, cultures and status could come together to support each other. NO MATTER WHAT. To say you can do it. or Im here for you. We are here for you. Personally, I was seeking happiness and fulfillment. (And I think I also speak for Brooke here) We both found that in the community we have become a part of...as well as the tribe that we are creating with TNT Nation. Transforming lives and Teaching others to do the same. I found happiness by dissociating the physical and focusing on my emotions. My actions are simply a reaction to my emotions. I have also realized that we live in world that is increasingly negative, cynical and sarcastic. The news, cable TV, heck you walk down the street and people are just unhappy with their lives. And its not that they dont WANT to be happy, but....guess what? Its not that easy. And you have to be surrounded by people that want the same thing. So putting other people down OR commentary (even if you think its for the other persons benefit) is an action meant to make you feel good. Period. When I read some of those nasty, hateful comments...I just shook my head. Many of these comments were from men/women that are part of the Beachbody community. Dont you guys get it? Its not about a stupid before/after photo. And to be honest, I have NEVER liked the idea of promoting programs based on physical transformations...but guess what? That is what SELLS!! People are visual! You cant go around telling people you went through an amazing emotional transformation in 60 days... JOIN ME! I mean, really? who would hop on board that crazy train? So I get it. Beachbodys mission IS pure...but they do have a business to run and revenue must be generated from all avenues. Its not about being entrepreneurial martyrs. But I was fooled into thinking that once you understand WHY we do what we do....that your mindset would change. You would be positive NO MATTER WHAT. Because even if you are thinking something different, what good can come from nasty commentary except hurting someone else? Making other people aware of your concerns? Seriously? Since when did you become god? I think with every transformation a question should be posed: How much happier are you now? And if you can see the answer written on the face in the AFTER photo, then thats good enough for me. Please feel free to share this if youd like. Knowledge is power.
