Change this! Thyroid cancer survivors, in the largest study of its kind, say that their aftercare support is grossly insufficient. Reported deficiencies in care included lack of referral to a patient advocacy organization (84.1%) and lack of clear written disease/treatment information (63%). Areas cited as the most difficult aspect of the experience included receiving a cancer diagnosis (24.4%), anxiety/uncertainty about the future (21.9%), lack of psychological/emotional support (15.5%), and treatment side effects (11%). Suggested improvements in care centered on more information sharing and support.
