Changes to bus services in Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells from 6th April 2014 A number of changes will be made to bus times and routes in and around Sevenoaks, Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells from 6th April. These result from the renewal of Kent County Council contracts for services that they support, the need to adjust times to improve reliability where buses are becoming delayed by traffic conditions on a regular basis and some significant changes to bus services in the Sevenoaks area. There will be a new service, the 403, from Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge and Sevenoaks to Swanley, Dartford and Bluewater, as well as changes to Service 452 at Sevenoaks that will give Chipstead an improved service. Services 431 and 432 at Sevenoaks will be completely revised and replaced by other services. Some services run on behalf of Kent County Council by Arriva will be run by other companies following retendering of the KCC contracts. Details of the changes are shown below. Updated timetable leaflets will be available from our usual outlets, including the Tunbridge Wells Gateway office, our Tonbridge Travel Shop and Sevenoaks Bus Station, or by calling 0844 800 4411. 6/6A Maidstone - Paddock Wood - Pembury - Tunbridge Wells - The 0655 hours Mondays to Fridays bus from East Peckham to Maidstone will run five minutes earlier, terminating at Royal Star Arcade on Schooldays. - The 0709 hours Mondays to Fridays bus from Beltring Hop Farm to Tunbridge Wells will run nine minutes earlier. - The 0721 hours Schooldays bus from Ramslye to Maidstone will run five minutes earlier. 7 Maidstone - Mereworth - Hadlow - Tonbridge - Tunbridge Wells - The Monday to Friday timetable will be revised to improve reliability, with adjustments to the times of some morning and evening journeys. - An extra bus will run from Tunbridge Wells to Maidstone at 0520 hours on Mondays to Fridays and 0648 on Saturdays. 77 Maidstone - Kings Hill - Mereworth - Tonbridge - Tunbridge Wells - The 0651 hours bus on Schooldays from Snodland to Bennett Memorial School will depart ten minutes earlier at 0641 and run to revised times. - The 1808 hours bus on Sundays from Tunbridge Wells to Kings Hill will be extended to West Malling High Street, arriving at 1902. - Three extra buses will run on Sundays at 1839 hours from Maidstone to West Malling High Street, 1908 hours from West Malling High Street to Tunbridge Wells Station and 1907 hours from West Malling High Street to Maidstone. 147 West Malling - Kings Hill - Mereworth - Tonbridge - Tunbridge Wells - The 0734 hours Monday to Friday bus from Tunbridge Wells to West Malling will depart seven minutes earlier at 0727 and will run to revised timings. - The 1704 hours bus from West Malling to Tunbridge Wells will depart at 1705. All other times remain as before. 208 East Peckham - Tonbridge - Paddock Wood This service that has been provided under contract to Kent County Council will no longer be run by Arriva. From 7th April it will be run for KCC by Autocar. 218 Tonbridge - Higham Wood - Willow Lea - Tonbridge The following adjustments will be made to Monday to Friday times: - The 0700 hours bus from Tonbridge Rail Station via Willow Lea (0716) and back to Tonbridge Station will run three minutes earlier. - The 0815 hours bus from Tonbridge Rail Station via Willow Lea (0833) and back to Tonbridge Station will run five minutes later. - The 0827 hours Non-Schooldays bus from Tonbridge Rail Station via Willow Lea (0845) and back to Tonbridge Station will run four minutes later. - The 0838 hours Schooldays bus from Higham Lane to Tonbridge Rail Station will run four minutes later. 219 Tonbridge - Willow Lea - Higham Wood - Tonbridge - The 0725 hours Schooldays bus from Tunbridge Wells to Weald of Kent School via Willow Lea (at 0802) will start from Willow Lea at 0802. - The 0736 hours Monday to Friday bus from Tonbridge Rail Station via Willow Lea (0751) to Tonbridge Rail Station will run five minutes earlier. - The 0756 hours Schooldays bus from Willow Lea to Weald of Kent School will be extended to start from Tunbridge Wells Rail Station at 0720. - The 1547 hours Schooldays bus from Weald of Kent School to Willow Lea (1613) and Tonbridge Rail Station will terminate at Higham Lane at 1618. - The 1550 hours Schooldays bus from Weald of Kent School to Higham Lane will be extended to Tonbridge Rail Station (arrive 1634). - The 1737 hours Monday to Friday bus from Tonbridge Rail Station to Tunbridge Wells Depot via Willow Lea (1756) will be extended to Tunbridge Wells Rail Station, arriving at 1833. 228/229 Tunbridge Wells - Eridge - Crowborough - Jarvis Brook The 0757 hours Monday to Friday bus from Tunbridge Wells to Crowborough (Sir Henry Fermor School) will run three minutes later than at present. 232/234 Edenbridge - Tunbridge Wells 235 Penshurst - Hildenborough Station 237 Chiddingstone - Tunbridge Wells 238 Holtye - Edenbridge - Sevenoaks 631 Chiddingstone - Bough Beech 632 Hever - Penshurst These services that have been run under contract to Kent County Council will no longer be run by Arriva. From 7th April they will be provided by Go-coach Hire (Telephone 01732 469800), except that the operator of the 631 is still to be announced. 267 Hawkhurst - Benenden - Cranbrook - Tonbridge - Tunbridge Wells This Schoolday service will be completely revised to run as two separate routes in order to overcome the substantial traffic delays suffered in the Tonbridge area by those travelling to Tunbridge Wells schools. The two buses will run as follows: - 267: Hawkhurst to Tunbridge Wells Boys Grammar School via the existing route to Five Oak Green and then via Colts Hill, the A228 and Pembury Road to Tunbridge Wells Town Centre and St. John’s Road. - 268: Same route as the 267 to Matfield, then via Mascalls School grounds, Five Oak Green, Tonbridge (Pembury Road) to Quarry Hill Road (Spring Well Road). 277 Tunbridge Wells - Sherwood - Knights Park - Tunbridge Wells Hospital The following Monday to Friday buses will run ten minutes earlier: - 0717 and 0802 hours from Knights Park to Tunbridge Wells Rail Station. - 0740 hours from Tunbridge Wells Rail Station to Knights Park. 281 High Brooms - Tunbridge Wells Town Centre - Rusthall The 0736 hours Monday to Friday bus from Rusthall to High Brooms will run only as far as Tunbridge Wells Tesco’s. 289 Southborough - Tunbridge Wells Town Centre - Ramslye Arriva will be running Service 289 on Mondays to Fridays from Southborough (Kibbles Lane) via Tunbridge Wells town centre to Ramslye. Buses will run hourly during the off-peak period. This service is currently run under contract to Kent County Council by Southdown PSV. 402 Tunbridge Wells - Tonbridge - Sevenoaks - Bromley 403 Tunbridge Wells - Tonbridge - Sevenoaks - Eynsford - Farningham - Swanley - Dartford - Bluewater - Most of the Monday to Saturday buses that run only between Tunbridge Wells and Sevenoaks will be renumbered 403 and extended to Otford, Eynsford, Farningham, Swanley, Dartford and Bluewater, giving: New links between Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge and Bluewater A quicker route between Sevenoaks and Bluewater New links between Sevenoaks and Dartford More buses between Otford, Eynsford, Farningham and Swanley. - The main 402 service through to Bromley will be unchanged and there will still be two buses an hour between Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells by Services 402 and 403. - The bus that currently runs at 1734 hours from Sevenoaks to Tunbridge Wells will run seven minutes later. - The bus that currently runs at 0820 hours on Saturdays from Tunbridge Wells to Sevenoaks will run twenty minutes later. - The 0840 hours Monday to Friday Service 402 bus from Sevenoaks Weald to Sevenoaks Bus Station will run fifteen minutes earlier. 431/432 Kemsing - Seal - Sevenoaks - Dunton Green - Otford These services will be replaced in part by an extension of Service 452 to Kemsing and by a revised Service 421 provided under contract to Kent County Council by Go-Coach Hire: - Between Sevenoaks Bus Station, Seal, Kemsing and Noah’s Ark a half-hourly service will continue to be provided by Arriva on Mondays to Fridays (hourly on Saturdays) but with all journeys numbered 452. - The section of route of the 431 and 432 via Riverhead, Dunton Green, Shoreham Village, Telston, Otford and Bat & Ball will no longer be provided by Arriva. - There will, however, continue to be Arriva buses between Sevenoaks, Riverhead and Dunton Green on Services 402 to Bromley and 452 to Dunton Green. - Arriva buses will also serve Bat & Ball and Otford on the new hourly off-peak Service 403 to Dartford and Bluewater. - Twitton and Shoreham Village will be served by a revised route for Go-Coach Hire’s Service 421 which will run between Otford and Shoreham Station via Twitton, Telston Lane and Shoreham Village. 452 Dunton Green - Chipstead - Riverhead - Sevenoaks This service will be extended beyond Sevenoaks Bus Station to run to Seal, Kemsing and Noah’s Ark, replacing Services 431 and 432. Between Riverhead and Dunton Green buses will be re-routed via Witches Lane at Chipstead to give a new half-hourly service to the area on Mondays to Fridays. 562 Dunton Green - Sevenoaks - Tonbridge schools The route will be changed as follows: - The morning bus will run as now to Pembury Road and then via Goldsmid Road, Hectorage Road and Lodge Oak Lane to Tudeley Lane. - The afternoon bus will run via Hectorage Road, Lodge Oak Lane, Tudeley Lane to Pembury Road and then the existing route
