Changing Mindsets of the Superior Being.. There is actually nothing wrong with us, if only we think of ourselves as a humble human being born into a particular race and with a face, a complexion and culture that are different for the others. Being born a Malay, in Sarawak I was brought up in a multi-racial, multi-lingual and multi-cultural society that made me tolerant of almost everyone else not Malay, be they Chinese, Dayaks or Orang Putih. My old Kampong Jalan Istana Lama -linking to Siol Kandis was, I think the most multi racial as there were Malays, Iban, Bidayuh, Eurasian, Chinese and Orang Ulu families living there. We were simply good neighbors and friends, playmates, schoolmates and classmates. In other word, tranquility, peace and harmony. Then came Malaya, with their Malaysian Agenda to tell us that Malay through UMNO or PBB is the TUAN in power, that people must follow their political will, whims and fancies. We were inundated with the ideas that the Malays were superior and many were pleased and happy with their new found importance of carrying out the Ketuanan Melayu political agendas. But time has changed all that and we started seeing the ugly side of racial politics from Malaya encroaching the Sarawak and Sabah neighborhood and cultures. Sabah through Mahathirs project I/C Biru and recognition of PATIs as Sabahan natives has fallen into UMNO mind game and traps. It is now in UMNOs hand and control, needless to say, almost everyone in Sabah Politics is an UMNO proxies. BUT, will we allow this to happen in Sarawak too? Taib has said it openly, a no to UMNO styled politics and racism in the state and our new CM Adenan too has echoed the same stand. Now, for us Sarawakians, it is not too much to ask to be Independent. After all these years Malaysia Federation has not benefited Sarawak as expected or promised and almost all that are stated in the Malaysia Agreement of 63 have been ignored and reneged. How can we achieve this? The sure way is to call for a Peoples Referendum and we decide whether our future is to be a Joint Venture partner of Malaya or opt out to Self Determination and Independence. Lets go for Referendum!.
