Chapter 14, Day 6: EleFan: For the love of elephants (and other giant animals) September 6 marks the day that an angel was sent down to this earth. The angel is Gail, my niece Mara’s mother. Gail is not my sister by blood; she is my sister by love. I have never met anyone who is more kind and loving. Gail is the best human example I’ve ever seen of Jesus. She forgives (and forgets!) every failing and foible of her loved ones. She has compassion and unlimited patience. Gail never gives up. She does not close doors. She heals people, just by being in their lives. Gail has many siblings and they all reach out to one another. I would trust Gail with my life and everything in it, because she is so absolutely honest and selfless. She reminds me of what I imagine elephant families to be like: affectionate, supportive, and enduring. Thank you, Gail, for being in my life. Happy Birthday….
