Chapter 15 The death of Shade The following night I find the need to get away from the heat back to Minnesota I go. I find a small abandoned shack and settle within to escape the oncoming blizzard. The exterior is well sealed, however the interior is dilapidated. In my mist form I freeze solid and shatter, so solid I must stay. I settle onto a half disassembled couch and wait. After an hour or two I see faint dark souls flutter about I rub my eyes and begin to doze off this would’ve been about ten o’clock. As the hail sets in I woke with a start, my eyes wide open. What I see before me are creatures that can’t be accurately described are darting and scurrying across every surface to escape my sight. They were dozens of tiny, bat like creatures that clung to the walls like spiders. I grin and close my eyes. I grin and close my eyes. Unfortunately for me I fall asleep again. Sometime after I wake with a start to find myself in a large stone room. I sense that I am deep underground. How could I have been so stupid? And not woken up at any sign of movement? I look down and realize my coloring has faded. Instead of my usual red coloring I am faded to a pale pink. Looking around in this unknown place I see the flittering of the creatures once again. Now thoroughly pissed I stand to my feet and look around There are more than dozens of these creatures in this catacomb, it appears as if theyve been here for centuries. Layered on the floors and stacked against the walls are piles of wood which seems to be scavenged from odds and ends. In one corner I notice the other half of the couch I fell asleep on. I move slowly to find a way out, and it doesn’t take long to realize both of my wings are gone. There is no pain just a sense of something missing. The cold is stifling. The temperature has dropped below zero and all I can think of is sleep. After an hour or so I come back to the same half couch it seems I have come back to where I began and I need to rest. I close my eyes for a mere moment but when I open them my left arm is gone along with a small stack of boards. Now I am terrified and I attempt to rush through the cave. The ground is icy and I slip, as I am falling I see roughly a dozen small barrels each being carried by a small imp-like creature across the ceiling. They are tiny in size with long gangly limbs each finger is half its height and ends in a severe point. Black in color they are fast and hard to see. Their auras are not black as I had originally thought as they run they continuously cross one another’s paths. These creatures are not evil but mischievous a human may never know they were beneath them. As I land face first upon the ground my body shatters and all I can do is watch as they create little barrels and package pieces of me and carry them away. It seems this is the end of the line this is the end of the shade are my thoughts as my head gets its own barrel and then rolled down a steep descent.
