Chapter 3: Firelight Did Darkwing just stutter? I started to freak out on the inside. Darkwing was the bravest of the brave and she was scared?!? What have I gotten us into this time? My teeth started to chatter and Darkwing looked at me and said “We have to find Windshadow.” Windshadow? I thought he was just a myth. Windshadow supposedly was the Dragon King’s servant until he escaped his wrath. He is the only one who knows how to get to the Dragon King’s lair without getting caught. Or so the stories say. Darkwing started mumbling and pulling out map’s with strange writings on them. (Umm... Firelight they’re called scrolls.) Fine then. Scrolls. She went into her dark room and started to cast spells. I had forgotten all about Teddy until she started screaming. “THE HOUSE IS ON FIRE!” Teddy frantically starting running to the door. I held her by the collar. “Yes Teddy, the house is on fire. Take a moment and think. Would Darkwing really be standing around in a room that was on fire? Right. Calm down.” Darkwing looked back at us and whispered a calming spell on Teddy, though I don’t think it really worked. She looked calm on the outside but through the vibrations she was putting off, I don’t think she felt that way. Later: “How does she make spells?” Teddy said after two hours of complete silence. “I don’t know. I tried to learn, but all I could master was the home spell.” I said sadly, thinking about all of my failed attempts at spell casting. “Oh.” Teddy said. “Did she offer her soul to a demon?” “WHAT?!” Darkwing and I said at the same time. Darkwing ran up to us. “First thing you need to know if you want to save yourself. One: we don’t offer our souls to demons. Two: don’t EVER wake me up when I’m sleeping” Teddy nodded silently. Darkwing wasn’t kidding about waking her up. She was deadly serious and I found this out the hard way, being a trickster and all. Darkwing went back mumbling, casting spells and whatnot. “What is she doing?” Teddy said, still frightened at the menacing demeanor of Darkwing. “That’s what even I don’t know.”
