Chapter eighteen A dark corridor opened in the Castle That Never Was. Both Naminé and Kairi walk out and face Xehanort. “You two never cease to surprise me. Do you wish to die?” Xehanort said. “No,” Kairi began. “We want answers.” They both summoned two keyblades. “Now.” Naminé demanded. “Act civil on this, what answers do you seek?” Xehanort said. “First off,” Naminé started. “What the heck did you do to Riku.” “And second off,” Kairi continued. “What the heck did you do to Alcid.” “I barrowed the light Riku had to recreate a being fit to be my vessel.” Xehanort explained. “Yes, but why?” Kairi asked. “Didn’t we go over this? Seven lights, thirteen darknesses.” “What do you mean lights and darknesses?” Naminé was confused.” “The X-blade was split into twenty parts; seven lights, thirteen darknesses. In order to recreate it, my most future self has gathered us here to find thirteen seekers of darkness that will clash with your seven guardians of light. And thus in recreating the X-blade, I will at last have the power to open Kingdom Hearts.” Xehanort’s tone was inspiring. Naminé and Kairi were both shocked in finding their answer. “You did not know? It seems you are not as important as you seem. Lea knew, Isa knew, Sora and Riku knew, and even your silly King.” “Well if you haven’t noticed, we’ve all been a little too busy for small talk now a days.” Kairi said. “I would hardly thing the date of the worlds is small talk…Maybe you two girls will not be coon useful….Well, Naminé is a very useful witch.” Xehanort smiled. “No…” Naminé took a step back. “Relax, I do not plan on you being used as a vessel yet.” “‘Yet’?” Kairi questioned. “Anyone can be useful if need be, but you two are very low on the list.” Kairi glared at Xehanort then looked at Naminé who had an unpleased expression. “Come on Naminé, we got what we came here for, so now we can leave.” Naminé nodded and opened a dark corridor, but soon after it vanished. “That is not how things work here.” “…What?” Naminé was suddenly concerned. “You are in my debt.” “In your debt? For what?” Kairi was getting irritated. “I answered you. And what makes you think you can enter my territory unannounced, and demand from me?!” “I think you answering us makes up for a mere fraction of what you’ve put us, and our friends through.” Kairi responded quickly. “I didn’t have to do anything for you or your pathetic little Nobody.” Naminé sighed aggravatingly. “Good Witch.” Xehanort gave a demonic smile. “Can we leave yet?” Kairi was now also aggravated. “No.” “And why’s that?” Naminé was getting impatient. Xehanort paused and grabbed his chest. “It looks to be that I am not of time…You may leave, but just wait…It’s almost over.” He then disappeared in a dark corridor. Kairi and Naminé looked at each other, then Naminé opened a dark corridor and they both leave.
