Chargebacks… funny story (re-post) So my business model with my company is fairly unique. We get paid huge money that we really have not even earned YET. For example, on a $39.85 sale (subscription) I get paid $279. This is way more than the company has collected from the customer. The company advances me twelve months’ worth of monthly commissions (up front) in order to give me a big incentive to go sell more. Once the twelve months of premium is collected from the customer, my commissions are earned out and my residuals begin to pay out monthly, forever. If the customer cancels inside of the first year, the remaining balance of months’ commissions is recovered from a future commission check. That’s reasonable and expected. Some networkers try to cast a negative spin on this to make it seem like our pay plan isn’t good. My team’s $330 Million in earnings number begs to differ! So here’s a funny story. So this guy in CA in Noni comes to Maryland to do a meeting for his downline whom I know. He asks his rep to arrange a 3-way meeting over lunch with me. I said ok. We get there and after pleasantries, here’s how it went: Him: “So Brian, congratulations on your success. I have been following you for years, as my ad runs in the same magazine as yours does. We’ve both been in our respective companies for about 6 years. We are both crushing it. But I think you ought to consider coming over to work with us in Noni instead, because you’d make a ton more money. The reason is because we have no chargebacks! Me: Ok, that’s interesting. So since you’ve been building it for 6 years, how much are you making a month? Him: I’m making about $7,000 a month now, and that’s with NO chargebacks (he really emphasized the NO). Me: Well that’s great man, congrats to you. I am a bit confused though. So you say I should drop what I am doing and come follow you and make more money. But right now, I am making over $80,000 a month WITH chargebacks. And you make $7,000 without them. Am I missing something? I don’t care how we arrive at the end number, all I care about is where will I get paid more. If I create income of $85,000… But I have $5,000 in chargebacks and my net is $80,000… isn’t that better than $7,000? Him: No Brian, you don’t get it. We don’t have any chargebacks at all. So I’d rather make $7,000. Me: Ok wow, that’s neat. Well while you are out here in MD, do you plan on fishing or boating? (I changed the subject to save him from sounding worse) The end of the story is the next day after his upline left, the local guy calls me and says “Sign me up, I want to do your business instead.” I just think it’s funny how people take what one person says to twist someone’s mind about a particular company or business, and then owns it, and then spreads it to others. And that people buy into it without really thinking or investigating. It’s sad because that’s how the public does it with concern to the entire network marketing industry. Don’t buy the idea that Network Marketing is a pyramid scam. And don’t buy it that my company has a pay plan problem. Don’t be the ignorant one who bought into it. My bankers will laugh if you ask them if people in my company are making real money.
