Chargers search for big win against Brady and the Patriots by Dave Thomas The stage does not get much bigger when youre hosting a Sunday Night Football game on NBC in front of a national audience. After pulling off a stunning 34-33 come-from-behind win in Baltimore last Sunday, the San Diego Chargers look to up their record to 9-4 when they host the 9-3 New England Patriots and Tom Brady Sunday evening. Heading into the day a game behind AFC West-leading Denver (9-3) and a game in front of third-place Kansas City (7-5), the Chargers know that a win over the Patriots could go a long way in solidifying them an AFC playoff spot for the second straight season. Meantime, the Patriots saw their seven-game winning streak snapped last Sunday in Green Bay. In what could have been a Super Bowl preview, the Pats dropped a 26-21 decision to Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. Heading into their important meeting with the Chargers, Brady and company look to keep their slim grip on the overall top seed in the AFC playoff race (Both New England and Denver are 9-3, the Patriots hold the tiebreaker from beating the Broncos earlier this season). After Sunday nights game, San Diego finishes its regular season home slate next Sunday by hosting Peyton Manning and the Broncos before heading out on the road to San Francisco (Dec. 20) and Kansas City, respectively. In order to get by New England, Philip Rivers and the Chargers will need to establish a running game, plus keep Brady in check. Do those two things, you might just see New England suffer its first two-game losing streak of the season.
