Charity Concert in aid of baby Rory Gallagher Wish to walk appeal January 8th at 8pm :) Stars to perform for Baby Rory in Ballyshannon A star-studded cast of musicians are coming together in support of Baby Rory Gallagher’s Wish to Walk Appeal with a special concert entitled “A Night for Baby Rory” that will take place at the Abbey Arts Centre in Ballyshannon on Thursday 8th January 2015. Among the acts that will be performing at the Concert include Johnny Gallagher & the Boxtie Band, Tabby Callaghan, Seamie O’Dowd Band, Moonchild, The TruTones and Laura May Lenehan – the Third placed Finalist from Voice of Ireland 2014. The Concert will feature all genres of music from Blues to Country to Pop and Classic Rock ‘n Roll. Several more guest artists will be performing on the night at the Rory Gallagher Theatre with doors opening at 7pm for a wine reception and the show starting at 8pm, advanced tickets are on sale from O’Neill’s Next Door Off Licence, Ballyshannon and at Mullaney’s Super Valu in Grange or online on the appeal website rorygallagherswishtowalk Baby Rory Gallagher from Cliffoney is two and a half years old and has cerebral palsy spastic diplegia and just over a year ago his parents, Shauna and Gerard were told by Doctors the prognosis was for him to be in a wheelchair by the age of three. However, after constant searching the family have discovered that a leading neurosurgeon in the USA has performed life changing operations on children with similar conditions. Dr T.S Park is confident that Rory will be able to walk following surgery and hence the fundraising that will require in excess of €100,000 is now underway. Shauna Gallagher says “we are so pleased with the great response to date from people in Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim and indeed across the world. We really appreciate everything that has been done by so many people to date from Charity football matches to Cake Sales to fundraising nights, it’s just been great. We are really looking forward to a big night in Ballyshannon on Thursday 8th January and we thank all the bands for coming forward to perform. We would love to see a full house on next Thursday night at the Rory Gallagher Theatre in Ballyshannon”. To date in excess of €16,000 has been raised for the Baby Rory Gallagher Wish to Walk Appeal from fundraisers over the past month including an online appeal that has seen generous contributions from across the world from music legend’ Rory Gallagher’s fans as Baby Rory was named after the world renowned Blues Rock Guitarist. The Concert in Ballyshannon is being organised by the Rory Gallagher International Tribute Festival Committee on next Thursday 8th January 2015 and is sure to raise significant monies and one of the performers Johnny Gallagher is appealing to the public in South Donegal to support the Concert “its going to be a great night, its a terrific line-up of acts from Counties Donegal and Sligo for a great cause to help little Baby Rory and his family realise the wish to walk.
