Charles Agustus Knights,Sr. May24 1929---December2nd 201 Family man,steep in his Christian belief, social activist,Multi talented musician,his contributions to music is phenominal, a Bugler in the St Georges Boy scouts,a member of the British Guiana militia band,played the clarinet and oboe with the Princessville Orchestra, Violin with the B.G.Philharmonic Orchestra, and sang as a tenor with the Dawsons Music Lovers Club.His contribution to the Schools Music Festivals in Guyana was immense In the 50S Guyana was musically ahead of many Karibbean Nations according to my mentor Mr Tom Charles who gave us the Bhoom beat competitions at different levels were held throughout the country,in 1954 Charlie Knights Boptets won the British Guiana Small Band contest.they did this by playing one of. Charlie competition ( Five Brothers) Will close it off with this one, as a member of the British Guiana Police Band he was one of the first to receive the L.R.S.M with distinction.
