Charli update: shunt tap was finally done and is positive for infection. So, yes, she should of had this done more than a week ago, thank you Alb. Med. Vancovin was started but she had a reaction right away so they stopped it. I guess they are going to give her some Benadryl and then start it up again along with a 2nd antibiotic. The plan right now is surgery on Wednesday to take out her shunt and leave a drain tube. Wait a couple days before replacing a new shunt system. So we may be looking at a 10 day hospital stay and two surgeries. Waiting for the cultures to come back to identify what bacteria it is. She is miserable and not liking all the prodding and probing and ultrasounds and x-rays but she is finally getting a diagnosis and intervention.
