It makes me angry, quite frankly, to see Gilbertson taking credit he does not deserve, only to buy votes. It was disconcerting to read that Gil is espousing that hes “developing a new type of community watch program” to integrate with the Sheriffs Office. REALLY? We have SEVERAL community watch programs in the county which have formed due to the lack of adequate law enforcement. Many were created with personal help from Ken Selig who gladly volunteered his time. They have existed for some time and have tried mightily to get Gils cooperation and support...to NO avail. In addition, a community emergency services group has also recently formed...all without any help and little if any cooperation from Gil. We practically begged to be integrated with the SO. So, after receiving a cold shoulder from Sheriff Gilbertson as we endeavored to protect ourselves and keep our communities from being over-run by criminals, many of us would be interested to know how HE can claim this is a “new” type of community watch program and proceed to take credit for such an inspiration just so he can round up a few votes. His budget is no greater now than it was when he turned a cold shoulder to US! An alert was just posted on Gilbertsons page.
