Chasing Blood,,,,,,, Pidgeons Blood Agate that is. I collected a few hundred pounds of rough over a couple of years and have been trying to find the legendary blood drops in clear agate ever since. The only piece Ive found so far with the well defined droplets is a small natural flake that I knapped into an arrow head.I have spent the entire week end and most of today cutting and looking for it in my last several pieces of rough. No luck so far. If youve ever collected in the area that produces this material you know finding any agate thats not full of cracks is a challenge, turns out finding one that has the droplets is more of a challenge.
