Chatting with Gary over dinner the subject of work came up yet again and to this day it still absolutely breaks my heart that 3 years ago the BEST job ever was taken away from me and my coworkers, Clients and their families were left scrambling to find care and I have been left with a huge hole in my heart that to this day is still not healed. Honestly I dont ever think it will be. Sure I have a new job and I do love my residents and have some pretty great new coworkers but it pales in comparison to what once was. Today healthcare is all about the bottom line, instead of what we can do as caregivers to the make the lives of those we care for, and their families better. Most days sure I have a few moments of laughter at something funny a resident does but no matter how much people try and how long one has worked there the simple fact remains....Old job we WERE a family united in our goal of caring and this one..sadly just a job. I sure wish I knew how to change that.
