Check out Antoine (now Hank) in his forver home!! This lovable fathead came to us from our good friends at the Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter where he arrived with a severely broken arm. He was friendly with everyone, surprisingly gentle with small dogs and children, and refused to let his bum leg dampen his spirit. Following surgery, he needed a special needs foster home to recoup and NOBR was happy to partner with the shelter based on all the great work they do, particulary on behalf of pit bull type breeds. It turns out, and we cant take credit for this, his temperament is absolutely perfect (as evidenced by him fitting in so well with two Yorkies and a miniature poodle). Though Antoine has always been a great ambassador for pit bulls, and despite all his amazing attributes, his size and breed made it much more difficult for us to find him a home. Finally, Ms. Linda came to our Xmas event looking for a large dog to add to her family, and we knew he had a good shot. Lucky for Antoine, another local rescue group turned Ms. Linda down thinking that adding a pit bull to her pack was unwise based on her other dogs. However, one advantage that we have at NOBR is that we bring all our dogs into our homes as much as possible, and evaluate them with a wide range of dogs, children and other variables, so that we can set them up for success once adopted. We felt very comfortable placing Hank, and he obviously has made himself right at home! We are greatly appreciative of everyone who contrtibued in helping to find this dog a home. This includes Robin and the staff at the shelter, foster homes Julianna and then Matt, Canine Connection, ARK Animal Hospital, and all of our supporters who helped donate to his care.
