Check out Tizzies coment: Tizzie Leapington Maybe just yanking funds from failing schools should follow an investigation into why the schools are failing. In the UK schools with a high number of children from families with money, and with parents who support their education, get good results with little effort, and therefore get more funding. Schools with a high proportion of non-English speaking children, or from areas where there is little or no support at home have, on top of all their other problems, to cope with having their funding lowered because, while they do the best they can for their pupils, their exam results are generally poor. Where the problem is that the school is failing the pupils I can see why funds need to be taken away; where the schools are not failing their pupils in spite of not turning out examination winners, then I think some other course should be sought.
