Check out the Canberra and Sydney radars at the moment!! There is a lot of severe storm cells in and around Canberra! The ones we have circled are likely to contain large hail, damaging/destructive winds and heavy rainfall and as we have seen already today there is even the risk of tornadoes with cells like this! They will be sparse but not out of the question! The Sydney radar isnt quite as intense but nevertheless there are good storms about and a much more organised band of rain and storms is approaching the ranges and may continue to move east and impact Sydney region 9-10pm tonight though some models have it weakening as it approaches Sydney but we will keep an eye on it. Stay safe if your on the roads as a severe thunderstorm warning remains in force in these regions. Images: Current Canberra and Sydney 128km radars provided by the BOM. (John)
