Check out the amazing review we received for James Streets Les miserables school edition I am so proud!!!! The musical “Les Misérables” is serious theater. Any production is an ambitious undertaking. So it was a pleasure this August to see the James Street Players’ presentation of “Les Misérables School Edition” performed with such expertise. Traditionally the James Street Players’ summer production is done by the younger members of the club. The cast this year, all eighteen or under, amazed us with their talent. Everyone in a lead role, as well as the entire chorus, not only brought the challenging score to life, but demonstrated mature acting ability. Directors Jennifer Durso and Debbie Person worked wonders on James Street’s unique stage, creating convincing settings with fine lighting and technical effects. The musical direction, choreography, and orchestral accompaniment enhanced every performance. The set design, costuming and makeup lent veracity to the depiction of the era and mood of Paris in the 1800’s. Cafes, barricades and sewers were created and peopled. The story of course, has themes of revenge, poverty, patriotism and love; all very sophisticated concepts. To see all this, magically brought to life by such a young cast was delightful.
