Check out the below from Nino’s boss regarding the night of Hugo’s accident in his patrol car in the 102 pct. In Jamaica Queens. His recount of that night as he told it to Suzie on Facebook Steve Botten wrote: "Suzy McDermott, In all honesty....We thought He was Dead...at that RMP accident.....We got there at like 3 or 4 in the morning working plain clothes on a Burg condition.... numerous calls on a "53" and then a Lefferts Lefferts ...............as His Partner with a open fracture on His arm....got the location over the air....we got there the RMP was destroyed.... the other car was into a house.. an off duty EMS worker was there screaming a Cop is under a parked car... He was ejected from the RMP and skidded 20 ft to a parked car His gun was found 100 ft away bye the TS operator... a restricted duty MOS who ran to the scene from the station House...and She recovered His gun, and other items... When We approached Him He was unconcious... and under the car.....Thats when We all broke into a sweat....it was freezing out....and All We saw were the pant Legs of A cop.... under a car... The EMT held traction...we pulled Him out, hearing numerous sirens in the background.... " its nice being a part of the biggest gang in the city ".. He was removed to Jamaica Hospital, and thank God was OK, Still not sure if He was going to make it I called the Wheel, and obviously the " important" notifications were made before the notifications were made....to this day I remember that incident.....I for the first time thought a Cop under My watch was dead.....and had tears in My eyes...Thank God He was alright....and months later The Job put out posters of that Wreck.....I think I have one buried in the attic....hey good job all around....His Partner gave us the location....EMS did their thing Jamaica Hospital did the best...and He survived....other than that Suzy Q glad to hear You retired we will have to hook up in Florida...thanks for the compliment....."
