Check out the contrasting expressions of Tom Crean here in these two images. A hooded Crean, far right looking hopeful as a member of the search party seeking Captain Scott and the rest of the South Pole party and another image where, Crean, stands on board Terra Nova on its return home next to William Lashly. Both men looking downbeat and dejected after discovering the bodies of the fateful members. On board also, was Lieutenant Teddy Evans, who would not have been on the ship had it not been for the immense bravery and courage shown by these two men, particularly Tom Crean, whose solo walk across the coldest continent was considered the most epic and heroic feat in the history of polar exploration. Tom Crean and Lashly quite rightly received The Albert Medal for their feat of bravery but Creans story became lost in the ether until the publication of An Unsung Hero in 2000. This was the second of Tom Creans three expeditions to Antarctica and we consider this expedition we are all on here as his fourth. An expedition to bring his story right to the forefront where it belongs.
