Check out this interview with RACHAEL WINTERLING of Mike Thrasher Presents x Cascade Tickets + Be sure to come see me open for The Coup 11/13 in PDX at The Hawthorne Theater & 11/13 in Eugene at Cozmic! The Pacific Northwest is home to some of the most active and vibrant music scenes in the world, boasting countless musicians from every genre imaginable. With so much music in the area, it can be tough to keep up with who’s who and who’s playing where. So, to help you keep track of some of the best artists in the area, we bring you Meet the Locals. For this edition, we have up-and-coming Portland emcee, Tope, AKA Anthony Anderson, who will be opening for The Coup at the Hawthorne Theatre in Portland on Nov. 13. Dreams are coming true for artist, producer, and Portland native, Tope. With a handful of records under his belt, both as a solo artist and with group projects TxE and Living Proof, Tope’s been receiving some well-earned national attention, even gaining a fan out of the legendary Erykah Badu. He’s opened for some of the biggest names in hip hop, including Nas, Talib Kweli, Macklemore, and Dead Prez, to name a few, and he’s currently getting ready to release a new LP, BROKEBOYSYNDROME, featuring production from Stewart Villain. His work is dynamic, injecting flavors of soul, funk, and jazz into his production, employing both electronic beats and live instrumentation while balancing equal parts humor and introspection with his lyrics. We had the chance to ask Tope a few questions, and he opened up about hip hop in the NW, his experience growing up, and where he wants go as an artist…
