Check out this wild new idea spreading amongst scientists and that they are even proving with advanced math - the Anthropic Principle - that the universe contains life because it is its very nature - its universal nature - to lead to life and support life and even nurture life - for physical processes to lead to life and nurture and support life. Otherwise life would not exist. According to this principle, the atheist or materialist idea that life is the by-product of purely random physical processes is just not realistic or logical because the universe is too vast - the chance of something like life emerging from that vastness is too remote - too insignificant. They are developing mathematical proofs for this at many different levels of physics (from chemistry to quantum physics), astrophysics, cosmology, etc. I think this is very compatible with the ideas of Kashmir Shaivism which says that the universe is actually the creation of pure cosmic consciousness, whos very nature is to create, and is thus continuously generating universes within its own being, much like our minds which are continuously generating thoughts and feelings and dreams within itself. Its like both scientists who believe in the Anthropic Principle and the sages of Kashmir Shaivism both realize there is a symbiotic relationship between the universe and the consciousness, or life that dwells in it, its just that the scientists believe the universe comes first because that is their focus as physical scientists, whereas the sages of Kashmir Shaivism think that consciousness comes first because they are Yogis. Of course, I agree with the sages, but I find the research and theorizing of physical scientists fascinating and highly relevant to my interest in Kashmir Shaivism.
