Ms. Cindy McGrew is the founder and CEO of Operation Second Chance, this year’s Festival Charitable Beneficiary. Cindy’s efforts began in 2004 when she started visiting Walter Reed Army Medical Center and communicating with families offering her support. Soon requests began coming in from other families for her assistance, and together with friends and colleagues Operation Second Chance was born in March of 2005. Over the years Operation Second Chance has help countless injured military personnel and their families from all across America from the time they are in hospital and rehabilitation facilities, through their transition into their civilian life. Despite the growth and success of Operation Second Chance Cindy is still a very hands-on caregiver and is closely involved in the daily operations of the organization. In 2013 Operation Second Chance was ranked as a top rated charitable organization by Great Non-Profits, and their most recent audit revealed Operation Second Chance has a 7% overhead rating. For Cindy’s hard work and devotion to the continuing care of our nations wounded warriors and their families it is our honor to name her the Honorary Chairperson for the 2014 Frederick Celtic Festival. operationsecondchance.org/message.php
