For those of you who missed hustings, here is my speech so you can se exactly what im proposing; If you know me, or if you saw me at all in freshers, you will know im very competitive. I always want to be part of the best team or the group that everyone wishes they were in, and a lot of the time, I wont stop until that happens – its actually unhealthy. One feature that I really would like to focus on are pre-founders events. I think you’ll all agree that the pre founders event in freshers was one of the best nights on campus. So, I want to work with the sports reps to put on these socials, and keep the buzz throughout the year and help make a pre founders event happen every term – so that when the founders weekend hits, we will all be pumped and ready to go and support all of our teams and make the score 8-3. Off campus socials are great. The ones we have had in the past, like Manchester or Liverpool have always been brilliant. They are cheap and such a good way to get the college to see other cities. However I want to expand where we can go and go further afield, and go somewhere like Leeds. Or somewhere closer to home – wherever you decide. However something I will really push for is a Lonsdale abroad trip. Because it is so doable, to say somewhere like Amsterdam. I have spoken with the current social secs and there are already plans in place, so I want to be involved with tis and push it to ensure it happens! Everyone needs a break after exams, and what better to do than go away with your college, for example, after founders and before extrav. Something that I know we all loved last year, were the summer BBQ’s. So why not have more events like that, that everyone enjoys, like end of exams celebration fun fair, with candy floss, and food stalls and fair ground games, where you can turn up as and when you please to have a chill out day. I want to make the bar more accessible, so im proposing a ‘Birthday Package’, where you can go to the bar, and depending on how many people you bring, you would all chip in a small amount and get a package of pitchers, shots and bombs etc. As well as focusing on the bigger events, I want to be sure that there is something for everyone, so I also want to pay attention to the smaller events, the ones where sometimes you just want a quite movie night in the bar, or even if you just want to get together and play board games. Or whatever you feel that is missing from Lonsdale’s social scene. I have 4 years experience in organizing events. Back home I have worked for an excusive club which hold and organize events for clients such as harrods, porche, bmw, ant and dec, The England football team, sky, Pandora etc etc. So I know how to arrange exactly what YOU will want. I’m one of those people who, if doing something, needs to make sure its done right and done to the best it can be. Which is why I would make such a good social sec. I would never fail to meet deadlines for any arrangements or forget to do something that needs doing. Last year Lonsdale had Dodgems arranged for extrav, however the health and safety checks were not filled in in time. I wont let that happen. I will make sure Lonsdales events are the best on and off campus as well as using the great space and bar we have at Lonsdale to ensure we will have the most memorable events, lifestyle, socials, Christmas ball, and extrav in 2014. #CHLONSDALE #HOUNSOCIAL
