Checking Out The Tunes & Other Stuff in Ellicottville By Robby & Sherman Wilkens Thanksgiving Day of 2013 is happening tomorrow. What a wonderful day and week we have had and are having. Good times, snowy weather, good friends and even better food. The next FUN time we have to look forward to is Christmas In Ellicottville sponsored and created by The Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce. This really FUN time takes place this Friday, November 29 through this Sunday December 1, 2013. Check out the really neat list of events shown here in this fine newspaper. With our weather changing to snow and cold Holiday Valley has announced the opening of the 2013-14 Ski Season will happen, this Friday November 29, with five lifts and several trails up and running. While we look towards our winter FUN, lets check out the music and other FUN STUFF. Starting today Thanksgiving Thursday November 28, 2013 through Wednesday December 4, 2013, in addition to Christmas In Ellicottville and the beginning of Ski Season, we will have seven Bands, two DJs plus a couple of all week sound system music happenings. The week will also include Madigans 32nd Anniversary Party plus all the football, afternoon and night, food and drink specials that are offered here in The Ellicottville area. All of which makes this a very neat place to visit and even better place to live. Also keep in mind, to enjoy a great meal, check out the advertising on the adjoining pages of this fine newspaper for some excellent places to dine and have FUN in and around Ellicottville. Thanksgiving THURSDAY will be a quiet music day that is dedicated to family functions. The Gin Mill and The PUB in Great Valley will be closed allowing their staff to enjoy Thanksgiving with Family and friends. Their music will return next week. BLACK FRIDAY, the weeks FUN begins with two bands, a DJ and Christmas in Ellicottville. We get going at noon on Friday with the beginning of Christmas in Ellicottville. Check the complete schedule on the next page of this fine newspaper. The music parade begins at 7:00 PM Friday in Balloons with a performance by The Scott Celani Band. Here we have very interesting nineties, contemporary to pop/rock band with singer and songwriter Scott Celani on guitar and lead vocals. Joining Scott will be Nick on bass, Larz on drums and Ray on guitar. Their music is best described as energetic bursts of shining pop-rock that will make you smile. Scott and his band, as always, will have The Balloons Crowd Smiling and having a good time enjoying the great music they always perform. Following The Scott Celani Band, DJ Mo Chuck will keep the good times going from Balloons Sound & Light Booth with his party time version of neat danceable tunes and totally FUN conversation till close. Returning to 9:00 PM Friday, The Gin Mill will have Two Guys Drinking Beer return to their music stage. Ron and Terry, the two guys, as we always say, are two talented FUN musicians that will create a FUN Gin Mill Music & Party Night. Their neat classic rock cover tunes and well conceived, general silliness is what makes the duo so special. Also remember, depending on the crowd, The Gin Mill will serve their great menu until midnight on weekends. Moving to SATURDAY, besides the continuation of Christmas in Ellicottville, we will have two bands, one DJ and Madigans 32nd Anniversary Party happening. We get going at 6:00 PM with Madigans 32nd Anniversary Party. This FUN Time will include one dollar of all drinks and complimentary Hors d oeuvres from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. In addition there will specials all night long to help The Green Bar celebrate thirty-two years of GREAT TIMES. Also at 6:00 PM, Balloons will start the music parade with The Electras ROCKIN The house doing their Hot Chicago Blues Show. This Buffalo based band features four veteran Blues Musicians who have been part of the WNY Blues scene since before disco. According to their website, this band remains true to their soulful blues roots. So if you love The Blues, Balloons is the place to be this Saturday. Following The Electras, DJ Flakey Frank Watson, Ellicottvilles Original Party Monster, will be in Balloons Sound & Light Booth displaying his innovative plan to continue the party already in place, with trend setting, off the wall chit-chat and tune selection till close. Returning to 9:00 PM Saturday The Gin Mill will have country singer-songwriter Sean Patrick McGraw in house. Seans neat country performance brings on, as his billing says, Its gonna be a Beer Drinking Sean Patrick McGraw Singing Country Kinda Night. Sean is a party promoting performer and his show will make The Gin Mill a really JUMPIN, COUNTRY HOPPIN place this Saturday. Next is FOOTBALL SUNDAY. This will be the rap-up of Christmas In Ellicottville. The day and evening will be music free. However, you may wish to check out Balloons during the televised Bills game which will be held in Toronto. Besides being able to watch the game on several TVs, Balloons serves a neat buffet which includes their great pizza, during half-time. We now move on to next week and three more bands. We begin on MONDAY at 10:00 PM Sharp when Madigans Church on Monday with Reverend Jack will happen in Madigans Up-Stairs Party Bar. This very entertaining gig consists of mainly original Honky Tonk to Rock-A-Billy tunes done in The Reverends unique & FUN style. A style that is designed to entertain and delight all that attend this unique music night. However, every once in a while a cover tune gets thrown into the mix. This just adds to the FUN and good music times they create. Moving to TUESDAY at 7:00 PM when The Twobadours, after a two week absence, will return to The Gin Mill with their neat, acoustic southern rock to country music show. Red Gray and RP Jones always perform one of the very best shows of its kind. Therefore, The Gin Mills great music and FUN Tuesday night will be back on track this Tuesday. Check it out you wont be disappointed. WEDNESDAY at 8:00 PM our weeks final music gig will also take place in The Gin Mill. Joe Wagner & Friends will perform their traditional, acoustic folk to southern rock music show. More than likely one of the friends will be Pink Gary London. One or more musicians may also join in helping to make this Wednesday Gin Mill tradition of music & good times even better. C U Round The Music Scene Good Stuff No Worries.
