Chelsea are lining up a last ditch move to sign Borussia Dortmund forward Robert Lewandowski according to Sports Direct News. Jose Mourinho is ready to go ‘all out’ with a big money offer for the Polish international, who has just a year to run on his current contract, with a £25m mooted by this source. If the Blues were to offer such a fee one would imagine that the Bundesliga side would have to think long and hard about the possibility of cashing in on a player they could lose on a free transfer in less than 12 months time. Borussia Dortmund’s main issue with losing the 25 year old earlier this summer stemmed from an unwillingness to sell to domestic rivals Bayern Munich, having already seen starlet Mario Gotze make the same move in recent months, and therefore the chance to sell the powerful goal machine to a Premier League side may be less of a bitter pill to swallow. Borussia Dortmund have seen new striker signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang impress since his arrival in Germany with the Gabon international scoring a hat-trick on his debut and as such could feel they can afford to consider offers for Lewandowski, who has netted 66 goals in the course of the last two campaigns. Chelsea’s strike force on the other hand haven’t impressed thus far this term, indeed none of the club’s four Premier League goals this season has come from a recognised striker and Jose Mourinho seems reluctant to offer Romelu Lukaku the chance to prove himself and has thus far used Fernando Torres and Andre Schurrle to spearhead his attack with neither impressing.
