Chelsea captain John Terry - We are sending the right message Chelsea captain John Terry underlines importance of Soma charity tournament John Terry underlined the importance of the Soma charity tournament which will be played between Chelsea, Besiktas and Fenerbahce on Friday 8 August, at the Kadıköy Şükrü Saracoğlu stadium. The proceeds from the tournament games will be donated to charities helping the families affected by the mining disaster. First and foremost the reason for going there is supporting the charity and the families that suffered locally, from that aspect its for a great cause, Terry said speaking the Chelsea TV. From the clubs perspective it sends the right message that we are supporting and hopefully going there to help the families. We are playing two very good sides as well so it will be good competition which we need before our season kicks off and of course the two intense 45 minute games will be different from what we are used to but its a good format really. We are playing very passionate, hostile fans and of course Dids [Didier Drogba] has been there he knows that and Dembas [Ba] is there now. Regardless of what happens which teams you support or which teams fans follow there are certain things that happen in life where everything is forgotten which brings everyone together. Not just an opportunity for Chelsea but the other clubs as well to gather money for the family and show we support the cause. Three hundred and one people were killed in the Soma mining tragedy on May 13 2014. The mining disaster was the worst-ever industrial accident to have occurred in Turkey.
