Chelsea captain sets sights on all-time Blues record John Terry says his sights are set on at least another 80 games for Chelsea so he can eclipse Peter Bonetti as the clubs second highest appearance maker. The Blues captain says that while the 146 appearances required to catch-up with record holder Ron Chopper Harris will be a tall order, he is going to have a shot at it anyway. Terry played his 649th game for Chelsea in the 5-0 win at Swansea on Saturday that saw him overtake Frank Lampard and go third in the clubs all time record books. “You know Im delighted to go above Lamps and be third,” he said. “I think the other two are going to take some doing to catch Chopper (Harris – 795 apps) and Peter Bonetti (729 apps). “Delighted with where I am at the moment. Listen – Im looking to improve upon that and keeping going.” Asked about the incredible milestones he continues to pass, Terry said: “They seem to be coming thick and fast this season. “It seems to be the fourth or fifth one so far. And the next target – I always set myself targets – the next target is The Cat (Bonetti). We always joke when I see him and Ron Harris. “When I was 18 or 19 and sitting alongside Jon Harley, on 14 or 15 games looking at the likes of (Dennis) Wisey on 200-300 games thinking wow... Im there now, and Im looking to push on and feeling great. And hopefully I can remain.” Terry is likely to lead out the Blues in his 650th match at Anfield on today, in the League Cup semi final first leg, and he says people should forget the Premier League table, which puts Chelsea a huge 17 points ahead of Liverpool. “Its going to be a tough place,” he said. “I think Studge (Daniel Sturridge) is back, (Raheem) Sterling looks like hes back as well. “And they proved, when we went up there in the league, that its a tough game. Forget form and where they are and everything else, it goes out the window – Chelsea/Liverpool. “Its going to be tough, and I just hope that over the two legs were strong enough.”
