Chelsea could make a stunning bid or Liverpool striker Luis Suarez if their pursuit of Manchester United star Wayne Rooney fails. Boss Jose Mourinho recently claimed Rooney is his only summer transfer target. But SportsDirect News has learned the Portuguese tactician has, in fact, been exploring other options in case his move for the England forward falters. Arsenal recently tabled a cheeky offer of £40 million plus £1 for the Uruguayan, but Mourinho has been encouraged by their lack of action in the weeks following the bid. The Reds have long insisted they will not let their prized asset leave unless a club matches their valuation of £50m – though Chelsea would have no problem in matching their asking price. And Suarez would also earn less in wages than Rooney at Stamford Bridge – with the former likely to demand £150,000-a-week, while Rooney would want his current £250,000-a-week package matched by the Blues.
