Chelsea eye Liverpool starlet Chelsea are weighing up a move for Liverpool youngster Philippe Coutinho in case Oscar leaves the club, [football] direct news understands. The Blues are facing strong interest from Paris Saint-Germain in their talented playmaker, and may opt to replace one Brazilian starlet with another as Jose Mourinho eyes Coutinho as an ideal like-for-like replacement. The 21-year-old has been in sparkling form for Brendan Rodgers side this season, developing into a top player under his management and helping the club challenge for the Premier League title. Mourinhos side fell somewhat short of their expectations this season, failing to win a trophy despite challenging for the title for most of the campaign, and the wealthy London club are expected to make some big-name signings to improve their squad this summer. Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa already appears to be on his way to Stamford Bridge, and Chelsea will now hope to weaken their rivals Liverpool with a bid for Coutinho, though it will surely take something special to convince the Merseyside giants to let him go. Still, the two clubs do have something of a history of selling to each other in recent years, with big names such as Fernando Torres, Daniel Sturridge and Yossi Benayoun switching between Stamford Bridge and Anfield. Coutinho has five goals and seven assists this season, but was recently overlooked for a place in the Brazil squad for this summers World Cup.
