Chelsea have the chance to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League to seven points when they play London rivals Tottenham in Saturday’s late kick-off. The hosts won at Fulham last time to leave themselves in a commanding position, particularly after Arsenal slipped up at Stoke City. Jose Mourinho still insists that his side are not the favourites to win the title, with Manchester City having games in hand and Liverpool not involved in European competition, but the recent form book suggests that it would take a great effort to stop Chelsea regaining their crown. Under Tim Sherwood, Tottenham continue to win narrowly, though somewhat unconvincingly. That was again the case on Sunday as struggling Cardiff City came fairly close to coming away from White Hart Lane with a point. Had that happened, it would have been a major blow to their top four hopes, but Spurs still retain hope despite having some tough looking games ahead. Long-term absentee Marco van Ginkel is Chelsea’s only injury concern, but Mourinho could hand recalls to Frank Lampard and Willian. Tottenham will be hoping that Gylfi Sigurdsson, Danny Rose and Kyle Walker are fit enough to return to action, but Vlad Chiriches and Christian Eriksen are both unable to play a part.
