Chelsea likely formation options for next season I’ve selected - TopicsExpress

Chelsea likely formation options for next season I’ve selected 3 formations and I’ll break down the problems and solutions to each of them : Formation #1 – 4-2-3-1 Chelsea is best adapted to this formation. Even the type of players we have complements it. ———————Cech———————- –Azpilicueta—Cahill—Luiz—–Cole—- ————-Mikel(?)—Ramires(?)——— ——Oscar(?)——-Mata——Hazard—- ——————-STRIKER——————- Problems: Oscar is being shunted out on the wings, not his natural position. But still our best bet on RW, Moses being inconsistent, not a great crosser. Marin terrible fitness, not given chance either. PIVOT PROBLEM: Mikel-Ramires – Both players don’t complement each other. Ramires is a very hardworking player but some aspects of his game aren’t upto the mark e.g. his passing, vision. Mikel is a good DM but he is slow to react, less athletic and combative. Mikel-Lampard – Same problem, don’t complement each other. Lampard has played as an advanced midfielder. Lampard likes to get into opposition’s box more often, leaving Mikel alone and exposed. (A mistake by Mikel, he is blamed) Mikel-Romeu – Good defensive partnership, but too slow. Romeu with injury problems. Not reliable for whole season yet. Lampard-Ramires – Defensively very shaky. Good against no combative midfield. (NOTE: Luiz is not option because I consider to be our best defender at the moment, and want to see him there ONLY) Solutions: Kevin de Bruyne can be used as RAM in this formation, Oscar can play deep, viceversa. But I would be really surprised if Oscar/KdB are used as CM straightaway. Schurrle can be used as RW, but as much as I have seen him, he isn’t a good RW, plays better at LW or as inside forward. Other option being: Hazard shifted to RW, Schurrle taking LW. In my opinion, in EPL, midfield needs a Combative DM and a ball-playing CM. Chelsea lacks both. Options being: Oscar/KdB as CM (which I really be surprised) or buy a combative DM and partner him with one of KdB/Oscar. Or buy a CM and a DM. Formation #2 – 4-3-3 Most Chelsea fans want to see this formation back because of successes Chelsea achieved using this formation. ———————-Cech————————- —-Azpilicueta—Cahill—Luiz—–Cole—– —-Ramires—-Mikel—Oscar/Lampard—- —–Hazard—–STRIKER——Schurrle—— GULP! YES, NO MATA. People may argue that he can play on either wings like he did at Valencia (as LW). But I think this formation isn’t for him. We can use it when we have to rest Mata. MAIN PROBLEM in this formation, we have to rest/bench our best player. SO automatically, this can’t be our first choice formation unless we SELL Mata. Lulz. :p But all in all, this is a very good formation against midtable teams. Can be used a lot. Formation #3 – 4-1-2-1-2 (Diamond) This formation has a lot of benefit. But very hard to perfect. ———————-Cech————————- —-Azpilicueta—Cahill—Luiz—–Cole(?)— ——————-Mikel(?)———————— ——–Oscar(?)—————–KdB(?)———- ————–Mata(free role)——————- ———-STRIKER—–Hazard/Schurrle—— Looks perfect for our squad. Problems: Midfield is light weight. Oscar gets dispossessed quickly yet he is decent to track back and help defensively. Width can be the problem in this problem. Cole has lost his pace so can caught struggling. Don’t really trust Mikel alone as defensive cover but can do the job. Adaptation by players is the main problem or challenge in this formation.
