Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel has told the Dutch media that he hopes to make the national squad for this summer’s World Cup in Brazil as he comes back from knee ligament damage. The youngster has been sidelined with the injury for four months but has made a speedy recovery and is already back in training with his club. Voetbal International have reported on comments made in the Dutch press where he said that he is now showing a good recovery from his injury. Hed (the surgeon) rarely seen such a speedy recovery... Together with the fact that I was physically fit as a fiddle, this has ensured that I am now so well. I volunteer at nine oclock at the club, get treated, warm myself up in the gym or the pool and then go to the physiotherapist on the field. Now I can already change direction, reverse, cut, turn and shoot. Actually, I can do anything. The World Cup would be a bonus, because I am only focused on my recovery. My main goal is to get fully match fit again. And if that works in the short term, you never know what can result. Chelsea would love to welcome the talented young Dutch midfielder back as soon as possible, his injury was such a blow in early season. Van Ginkel is very highly rated in Holland and his return would be like a new signing for Jose Mourinho as Chelsea push for the Premier League title. No date is given for a return but Van Ginkels next step will be full contact training and that usually goes on for 2 to 3 weeks before a return to full match action.
