Chelsea set to wrestle Arsenal for Khedira The Future of German international, Sami Khedira is far from decided as Chelsea is believed to have entered the race to sign the World Cup winning midfielder. It was widely reported by several Sports publication in both Spain and Germany that Arsenal has reached an agreement with Real Madrid to sign Khedira. It was claimed that the Gunners were willing to cough out as much as £20 million to secure the German international and Real have agreed to do business. However, it is believed that khedira’s wage demands could pose a major problem to the deal being completed. The German is looking to earn as much as £155, 000 per week, a fee Arsenal are not willing to pay. The wage impasse between to two parties is said to have encourage Chelsea to consider entering a bid for the midfielder. Khedira worked with Chelsea boss, Jose Mourinho while he was manager of Real Madrid and it is believed that the Portuguese is keen to link up with the German at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea’s position is further strengthened after Khedira’s agent insists that he and his client haven’t had contact with Arsenal. “We are not in talks with Arsenal. I don’t think a fee can have been agreed, otherwise I would have been told. We are talking to Real Madrid about his contract, but nothing is close to being decided. Sami has just returned from the World Cup and has gone on holiday,” Khedira’s agent, Jorg Neubauer is quoted as saying by Daily Mail.
