Chelsea winger Mohamed Salahs future at the club could be at risk - TopicsExpress

Chelsea winger Mohamed Salahs future at the club could be at risk with the real possibility that that the player could return to Egypt for a mandatory term of military service. The Daily Mail has cited reports in the north African country, suggesting that Salah might soon be forced to go home to serve his national duty unless the situation can be resolved. The player had joined an educational institution in the country to enable him to travel abroad as a professional sportsman without the need to fulfil military service. However, Salah has apparently been expelled from the institution by Egypts new Minister for Higher Education, Sayed Abdel Khaleq, meaning that his previous exemption no longer exists. The 22-year-old could be made to serve for anything from 12 months to 3 years, during which time he wouldnt legally be allowed to leave the country. Salahs Chelsea Future is at Risk Ahmed Hassan, director of the Egyptian national team told a local website, Salah has expressed his shock about the decision. He told me that he is trying to represent Egypt in the best way possible. Is this the best response from the country? A meeting between the Ministry of Higher Education and the Egyptian FA is said to have been arranged to try and find amicable solution to the dispute. Salah joined Chelsea from Swiss side Basel for £13m just last January. In his first few months he scored twice in 11 appearances and has already featured in the clubs pre-season schedule this summer.
