Chelsea’s Gary Cahill receives no FA action for kicking and stamping on Spurs’ Harry Kane Chelsea defender Gary Cahill has reportedly avoided retrospective action for lashing a kick into the back of Tottenham hero Harry Kane during yesterday’s incredible 5-3 win for the White Hart Lane outfit. The former Bolton centre-back, frustrated at being given the run around by a Kane inspired Spurs, who were leading 4-2 at the time, lost the plot and smashed the 21-year-old’s back as he lay on the floor shielding the ball. Cahill, who threw in a stamp for good measure, somehow went unpunished by referee Phil Dowd and the fourth official who was standing just feet away. Despite the clear video evidence of Cahill’s action the FA will take no further action after referee Phil Down apparently saw the incident, Sky Sports report. After writhing in agony Kane can at least say he had the last word, though, after being man of the match and going on to set up Nacer Chadli for Spurs’ fifth goal following the kick. Meanwhile, Swansea’s Wayne Routledge was sent off for reacting to a dangerous challenge from QPR’s Karl Henry yesterday, where he offered a push and a minimal kick that had far less impact than Cahill’s lash out. The two incidents and varying punishments will only serve to cast doubts over the credibility of the FA while adding to the confusion over the arbitrary nature of punishments handed out and policy on retrospective action. https://youtube/watch?v=EhayLPvMXTA
