Cherith A Place Of Isolation Bishop Elijah Davie Its not improbable that God will take you to the desert to preserve you, isolate you and keep you safe. Its in these dry seemingly lifeless places where He showcases His Providence and Provision over your life best. Gods creativity and ingenuity thrive in these least populated places. But then again He is Sovereign, He is God and He will do as He pleases. Every action, every plan, every instruction from Him is to inculcate and extricate our Purpose and showcase His Glory. Its a wonderful synergy and symbiosis of Divine and human. When we are weak, we are made strong in Him, His Hope, His measure of Faith deposited deep into the reserves and recesses of our hearts and minds cannot help but stand to command at His voice, at His prompting and at His call. Everything that has breath He has breathed into, so it is not uncommon for God to use anything and anyone He chooses and handpicks. Remember when God instructed Elijah to go East of Jordan to Cherith? (1 Kings 17) Cherith means place of isolation, a complete cut off from anything remotely alive and bustling. Think about the irony here for a moment, in the preceding verses of 1 Kings 17; Elijah had prophesied a three and a half year drought over Ahab. Not even dew would settle on his fields, such was the displeasure God felt that resulted from Ahabs compromising with Jezebel his wife and her foreign god Baal. You would think that Elijah would be sent off to some lush bountiful place, but God directed him to the desert! So caught between a rock and a hard place, Ahab and the desert,
