Chetan Bhagat can not understand why critics hate him. They say he - TopicsExpress

Chetan Bhagat can not understand why critics hate him. They say he writes bad English. So he wanted to find out what a famous English author reads like, and asked a friend for help. This friend is very good when it comes to general knowledge. Mr. Bhagat knows him from his undergraduate days. The friend looked on the net for a few days, and gave his suggestion. Dude, there was this guy called James Joyce whom critics love. Time magazine ranked his book the best of the millenium. Wow! If he is branded by Time I must look into him, Mr. Bhagat is excited. You know, his friend adds, I found this guy Joyce wrote a story where a priest tells people in the church that your life is like a bank account, and the good and bad you do in life are like taking money in and out. Perfect yaar, Mr. Bhagat exclaims. Seems like my sort of a guy. Must check this writer out. How many story books has he got? Let me count.... mmmm... Four. Only four! Ive six already. Man, how many copies did each book sell? Chetan Bhagat looks for James Joyce in a bookstore. He doesnt like ebooks. What are these! Two fat novels - thats what he finds by James Joyce. Looks like Im back to my IIT days... Too much to read. Mr. Bhagat quickly buys them and comes home. The first novel sounds like a history book from its name. (Or is it mythology? Confusing.) Its too tedious to read. How the hell do those elitist critics understand this writer? Mr. Bhagat turns to the James Joyce Wikipedia article for a gist what the novel is about. 780 pages just describing what a man has done in one day! Bhagat is shocked. I tackle a whole generations issues in 200 pages... And I have six books already published! Mr. Bhagat takes the second James Joyce book and tries to read randomly from a few pages. His expression changes from one of bewilderment to one of ecstasy. Ha ha! Those critics! Why did I even take them seriously? This guy Joyce ... Whats the language hes writing in? Its not English! And they say he is a great writer of English! But when I write its bad English, what a joke! Chetan Bhagat is overjoyed. He is convinced how totally worthless and pretentious his critics are. His eyes sparkle like a bottle of Coke in sunlight. The name of Joyces book is cool though, he thinks. Ill borrow it for my next bestseller. I will call that Murugans Wake. Murugan, a young Indian small town guy, who reads little but speaks a lot on his blog, wakes up one morning to find that he has become the countrys most talked-about writer. Then Chetan Bhagat pauses a little to think. But.... theres one problem still. What number do I put in front of the title?
