Cheyenne Native Charlie Hardy Launches Democratic Bid for U.S. Senate FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 21, 2014 CONTACT:Craig Thompson, Campaign Chairman Charlie Hardy for U.S. Senate Telephone: (307) 389-2715 RunWithCharlie2014@gmail “It’s time for a new era of cooperation,” says U.S. Senate candidate Charlie Hardy. “It’s high time to make government work for people like you and me.” CHEYENNE, WYOMING — Cheyenne native Charlie Hardy, a former Catholic priest, missionary, and educator for 20 years in communities throughout Wyoming, is running as a Democrat for the United States Senate seat currently held by Republican Mike Enzi, his campaign said today. The Hardy for U.S. Senate campaign kickoff is “very imminent,” said campaign chairman Craig Thompson. “We are excited to have found a terrific candidate who represents strong Wyoming values, and who has the principles, backbone, and integrity to be a great U.S. Senator,” said Thompson, of Rock Springs. Hardy, the son of European immigrants, served as a parish priest in Cheyenne, Laramie, Rock Springs, and Casper, and as a missionary in Latin America. He also served as Superintendent of Catholic Schools in Wyoming and as executive director of the Diocesan Pastoral Council. After attending Saint Mary’s Elementary and High School in Cheyenne, Hardy earned aB.A. in Philosophy and an M.A. in Religious Education from St. Thomas Seminary, Denver, Colorado. He also holds an M.A. in educational administration from the University of Wyoming, and is a lifetime member of the University of Wyoming Alumni Association. “I am running because I believe in my heart that all of us in this great Equality State deserve a fair chance to pursue our dreams,” Hardy said. “Wyoming is doing well economically, but many people have been left behind and are not getting the opportunities, healthcare, and income they need to survive and thrive.” The Hardy for Senate campaign stressed the need for living-wage jobs, affordable healthcare for all residents, and job-producing investments in the state’s often ailing highways, bridges, and water systems. “We are running a grassroots campaign that is about listening to and addressing the needs and aspirations of all the people of Wyoming, and giving everyone the chance to succeed,” Hardy said. Hardy also emphasized bipartisanship: “I think it’s time to bring Wyoming’s tradition of bipartisan cooperation back to Washington. Our campaign is about reviving the Wyoming spirit of working together so everyone has a fair chance, because that is the true spirit of the Equality State. This Senate seat belongs to the people of Wyoming. When I’m your Senator, I will never forget that.” For more information, please visit: Facebook:facebook/charliehardy2014 Twitter: twitter/runwithcharlie (@runwithcharlie) Youtube: youtube/charliehardyussenate Google+: plus.google/u/1/117646111119595028924/posts/p/pub
