Chiang Mai wants Kew Phawok temporary trade point as permanent checkpoint (NNT) –Chiang Mai is aiming to change its current Kew Phawok temporary trade point in Chiang Dao district into a permanent checkpoint. The Chiang Mai deputy-governor Charoenrit Sanguansat has revealed that the province is ready for the AEC to commence officially next year, as it has completed infrastructure, enhancing its natural beauty and promoting its unique Lanna culture. Separately, the Chiang Mai Chamber of Commerce president Chalermchart Nakarangkul has noted that he has been supporting the opening of Kew Phawok as a permanent checkpoint as it will boost both Thai and Myanmar economies. In addition, it can easily connect to famous attractions including Ang Khang mountain and Chiang Dao cave.
