Chicago has not had an easy start to 2014, and Im not just talking about the weather. To date 50 people have died from gunshot wounds, and 206 have been seriously injured, many before they had time to sign up for Obama care by the deadline without penalty (yup, just ask their families and their lawyers). We had a wanted murder suspect from Atlanta crash his car on Lakeshore Drive tying up traffic and 46+ law enforcement and emergency vehicles for 9 hours on a Sunday (St. Patricks day weekend) before the S.W.A.T. team could successfully apprehend him without harm ( is he still at Cook County?) We have multiple lawsuits from citizens who have broken bones from tripping and falling in potholes covered with slush that were reported last year, but not repaired (tax payers) Now we have a shortage of ambulances and paramedics not able to meet state mandated response times, and a CTA blue line train stuck on the escalator at Ohare airport because the driver fell asleep. I know this great city cant rectify all of these problems right now, mostly because all of this is currently under investigation, but Im all about solutions. CTA needs to get that train off the escalator at Ohare #1. CTA needs to install bright flashing lights, loud party horn sounds, and neon Frito Lay™ Hot Flaming CHEETO signs in the Ohare tunnel to wake up drivers so this doesnt happen again. Heres to brighter days ahead Chicago....spring is almost here :)
