Chichen Itsa. The majestic elegance feeds wild imaginings of mighty rulers who compelled compliance of the masses by sheer volume and symmetry. Made you feel like a ruler and a peasant at the same time. Or maybe a virgin sacrificed. Clearly a landing pad for space craft. An Energy vortex power center. Not allowed to climb it, I ran around the grounds a few times and danced to the birds and mysterious modern jungle sounds of jaguar flutes and the resonant echo of tourists clapping. Sweltering heat. Barefoot. Crazy Gringo. Passed through town on the way out and visited the Catholic Church, a gorgeous, inherently spiritual building of ancient design with the strangest alters Ive ever seen. Huge picture of popes. Dead Jesus. The Spanish architecture built with stones of ancient Mayan temples on sacred ground. The invasion of parasites. Conquerors conquering the conquered. To visit ruins of times past is to witness civilization in constant flux. Composting the old to birth something new yet ignoring the potential to build on ancient wisdom, instead choosing ignorance of our true nature in order to control through materialism. Everybody selling something. Our high tech lives in sharp contrast with the more basic effort of survival, staying cool, and kind. Danced on the beach observing the stars reflecting on all there is to understand. The day complete with a UFO sighting and some shooting stars. So complex yet so simple ~ all depends on your view.
