Chicken Salad My mother in law, Maxine Gatlin has a way of getting in my head. She mentioned something about chicken salad earlier and it caused me to start thinking about how I would like to have some. So on my way home from Austin I decided I needed a couple of ingredients I didnt have at home. So like I often do I cheated. Instead of stopping at a big ole, full of people - elbow to elbow HEB, I decided to stop off in downtown Liberty Hill at the little market and get some celery and a couple of other things. When I got up to the checkout counter the was a little rack with some books sitting there. Some old codger from there in Liberty Hill Texas got a wild idea to take a bunch of stories hes been telling people and put them in a book. Actually reading the back cover it seems that he has written articles for the local paper for the past 10 years about happenings around that little berg and I guess other things in his life. The Shin Oak Philosopher is what they refer to him as. Does he really think people care what he has to say? More especially does he think people are going to buy that book? Oh well, guess time will tell. BTW: I bought one and have been reading it in between times that I think of something brilliant that I need to write down that Im sure the whole world is sitting around waiting for me to pen. Actually the old fellow has some pretty good stories. I looked it up and his book can be ordered on Amazon. Shin Oak Ridge and other stories by Hollis Baker.
