Chicken With Dumpling’s 3 c. self rising flour 1/8 tsp salt 1 c. water ¼ c. Crisco shorting 4 chicken breast or 1 reg. cans white chicken ¼ tsp black pepper 1 stick butter 7 c. water or chicken broth Using a lg. pot add water and chicken add lid to pot and boil chicken until tender. Remove chicken dice up and add back to broth in the pot. Now add butter , salt and pepper. Now in a mixing bowl add mixed flour and Crisco gradually add the water making a stiff dough, You may not need all the water to form a stiff dough. Pour batter out onto a flat floured surface sprinkled with flour. Sprinkle flour over dough and work dough into a ball then press out with hands. Sprinkle more flour over and use a rolling pin and roll out dough as thin as possible. Cut dough into 1 in. strips using a pizza cutter. Once cut divide strips into sections as long as you little finger and drop into the pot of chicken and broth while its boiling. Once dough all is used place lid on pot and reduce heat to simmer and cook 15 to 20 min. Stir occasionally but gently. If dumpling gets to dry just add water to desired thickness. Enjoy. Serve with cornbread. I go the easy way out i use the broth add the can of white chicken then add the dumplings and cook until dumplings are done.wd
