Chico - Part II Chico lacked some socialization which required some patience. He also had a very bad skin condition due to food allergies. He was missing big strips of fur on his neck and right leg. His ears have fur missing and the tips have crusted painful, scaly skin. I tried whatever I could to make him as comfortable as I could. He wouldnt let me pet his head because of his ears but after while (6 months) he let me touch his ears. I was petting him one day and accidentally hurt his ears. He cried out. This was the first time he showed me trust. Trust to cry out instead of fearing me and growling. Before then, he would always bark or growl but he knew I didnt mean it and he was comfortable letting me know that in a way that was non-threatening. He has come so far with me and my brother. I know his journey will just get better from here. Thank you ABRT for giving me the tools to help him and thank you for giving him a second chance. ~ Michelle, student trainer & volunteer IndyGive! gives us the funds to get dogs like Chico into forever homes where people and dogs alike enjoy a fulfilling relationship.
