Chidinma Prosperity Opara: If you think you are too small to make a difference, then probably you haven’t seriously observed the size of a mosquito.” LESSON OF THE DAY: POSSESS A ‘MAKE A DIFFERENCE’ MINDSET If you desire something great and want to see it happen, then you need this mindset. It’s very simple, anytime you don’t believe that you can make a difference, then you will not make a difference. So let me help you to have a solid “make a difference” mindset; 1. Believe you can make a difference 2. Believe what you share can make a difference 3. Believe the person you share [it] with a can make a difference 4. Believe that together you can make a big difference. I know that I am probably good at what you are not, you are probably good at what I am not, and together we can make a big difference. By the way, you are not a leader if you want to get all the credit. That’s why bosses have a hard time connecting with the rest of the staff; when you just want to use other people’s skills and talents so that you can make a name for yourself, you cannot connect with them. A good leader will understand that the failure of his staff is actually his failure, so instead he will work hand in hand, not bossing them around, to achieve as a team. You cannot achieve alone what you can do when partnering with others. In that process, you connect with the rest of the partners/team members. As a leader/parent, if you want to connect with children/staff/colleagues and take them with you to a higher level, recognize the difference you can make as a team and acknowledge it at every opportunity. ALL THE BEST.
