Chief Engineer, PWD, Daman: Part – II There is no sanctioned post of Chief Engineer in the Administration of Daman & Diu. Hence Shri R. N. Singh Chief Engineer, OIDC was given the additional charge in PWD, also. The Territories of Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli are two small UTs and they are not having the post of Chief Engineer, due to which the major projects which are beyond 100 lacs and other specified limits given in the CPWD Manual require technical sanction as per the CPWD Manual by qualified C.E/ADG/DGW. Due to absence of such posts in these territories, the major projects were delayed and had to be referred to the concerned Ministries like Urban Development (CPWD), Ministry of Health & Sanitation, MORTH (Road & Bridges) etc. In order to ensure timely clearance of such projects. The UT Administration had decided to delegate the powers to Chief Engineer, OIDC to accord Technical and Financial sanction (as no officer of this Administration was empowered to give Technical Sanction beyond Rs. 100.00 lakhs to such projects). Hence the UT Administration has delegated the powers to Chief Engineer, OIDC to accord Technical Sanction to carry out the Civil/Electrical Works/Projects by various order issued as mentioned at (a), (b), (c) and (d) in his representation.
