Chiefs tie down Tshabalala Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that midfielder Siphiwe ‘Shabba’ Tshabalala has inked a new long-term deal with the PSL log-leaders. According to the clubs official Twitter account, the club have agreed terms with Tshabalala for a three-year contract extension. “Player Updates: Siphiwe Tshabalala @siphiweshabba has signed a new 3 year contract with the Club #InspiringGreatness,” said the Tweet. Tshabalala, who shot to fame worldwide when he scored the opening SWC 2010 goal against Mexico, came through the youth ranks at Chiefs before spending a year with cross-town rivals Moroka Swallows and then Alexandra United for a further season. Shabba developed his game during three years at Free State Stars before Amakhosi came calling in 2007. The attacking midfielder has represented Bafana Bafana on more than 80 occassions. Chiefs have not yet revealed whether this new deal includes the option of extending his stay for a further year, as is customary in contracts of this nature. @brisco
